Mexican Open titles since Tony Lema in 1961 and 1962.
What to know about Knapp
The American golfer qualified for the 2015 US Open as an amateur having played for the Orange Coast College, University of California, Irvine as well as the Estancia High School.
Knapp turned professional in 2016 and played on the PGA Tour Canada from 2016 to 2019 and again in 2022, winning three times, while also clinching the 2024 Grant Thornton Invitational title (with Thailand Patty Tavatanakit).

The Costa Mesa, California-born golfer was in action at the most recent PGA Tour event which was the 2025 Genesis Invitational in California, USA where he finished 17th.
Knapp is currently placed 97th on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), and his best OWGR is 45th.
Why Knapp is among the favourites
The 30-year-old won the 2024 Mexican Open for his first PGA Tour win as he hit just two fairways in the final round, becoming the first PGA Tour player since 1983 to hit two or fewer fairways in his final round and win.
Securing a top-20 finish at the Genesis Invitational will surely boost Knapp's confidence coming into this weekend's Mexican Open as he targets his first win of the 2025 PGA Tour season.
