Germany will face the sternest test yet of their Euro 2024 title credentials when they take on Spain in the quarter-finals at the MHPArena on Friday, July 5.

Die Mannschaft are viewed as one of the favourites to lift the trophy in Berlin after making a solid start to the tournament on home soil, scoring the most goals thus far (10).

Julian Nagelsmann has both the team and fans believing again after their poor showing at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups as well as Euro 2020, when they were eliminated in the round of 16.

The three-time European Championship winners topped Group A with an unbeaten record after beating Scotland (5-1) and Hungary (2-0) before playing out to a 1-1 draw with Switzerland.

Nagelsmann's side then dispatched Denmark 2-0 in the round of 16 courtesy of second-half goals from Kai Havertz (53' PEN) and Jamal Musiala (68') to book a mouth-watering date with La Furia Roja in the last eight.

Nagelsmann remained adamant that the pressure of performing in front of their home supporters is not an issue, having seen his players perform their best yet against the Danes.

"The first 20 minutes of the game was the best we've played at the tournament and then the rain break unsettled everyone," he said.

"Denmark didn't have a shot in the first half, but in the second half put more pressure on us. There's a lot of work to do ahead of the quarter-finals, we need to be a little more patient in the build-up phase and wait for our moments.

"I think we have no more pressure than usual. I think the fans and also the expectation of our fans is a big push for us. We can deal with the pressure.

"For me, it's still a privilege, and we also tell the players it's a privilege to play soccer games under pressure. All the players are used to dealing with it, so it's no problem."
