Kick-off is at 18h00

SS Lazio will battle it out with US Sassuolo in an Italian Serie A match at the Stadio Olimpico on April 2.

The Eagles succumbed to a 3-0 loss to their city rivals, AS Roma away in their previous league match which was played on March 20.

The defeat ended Lazio's two-match unbeaten run in this competition having registered two consecutive victories, before facing Roma.

The Eagles have won two of their last three home matches in Serie A, while the other game ended in a defeat as the hosts.

“I can only talk about a reaction because we immediately conceded a goal. That goal took the wind out of our sails, and we didn’t have the strength to get back into the game," Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri said after the loss to Roma.

"We just lowered our heads and this made the defeat inevitable. I think it’s a matter of nerves. We made so many mistakes that we normally do not make. It wasn’t normal. There were 90 minutes left to play, but we just couldn’t do it.

“This is a team that reacts when it suffers a defeat like the one we suffered today, so this leaves us hoping for the best in the weeks to come.”

Meanwhile, Sassuolo hammered Spezia Calcio 4-1 at home in their previous league match which was played on March 18.

The Black and Greens are now unbeaten in their last six matches in this competition having recorded two draws and four wins.

Sassuolo are also undefeated in their last three matches on the road in the league having registered one draw and two successive victories.

The last meeting between Lazio and Sassuolo in a league game was on 12 December 2021.

Sassuolo emerged 2-1 winners over Lazio in a match that was played at the Mapei Stadium which hosted the 2020 Supercoppa Italiana and 2021 Coppa Italia Final.
