2024/25 Serie A
Matchday 29
AC Milan v Como
San Siro Stadium
Milan, Italy
Saturday, 15 March 2025
Kick-off is at 19:00

As they continue their quest for top-flight survival, Como’s next major test in the Serie A will be on Saturday evening, 15 March as they are set to go up against powerhouse side AC Milan at the San Siro Stadium.

Cesc Fabregas’ charges have found their rhythm following a slow start to the season, and are pushing closer to safety from relegation as they sit in 13th place in the league table.

The side recently defeated Napoli in an inspiring 2-1 victory, and the Spanish coach will be hoping to achieve another “giant-slaying” when they go up against the Rossoneri.

English forward Dele Alli is on the verge of making his Como debut according to Fabregas, as he was included in the squad in the team’s 1-1 draw against Venezia but he remained on the bench throughout the encounter.

Alli has been side-lined for over 700 days, with his last competitive appearance dating back to February 2023, however his coach is optimistic that he is nearing a return to action, easing concerns about his fitness and readiness to play.

"It’s a progression for him," Fabregas told the media.

"He came with us to Rome. He’s not yet ready to play. I need to feel the right moment to bring him in. He is growing and making important progress. We need to guide him, take care of him, and get him on the field in the best possible condition."

Meanwhile, AC Milan manager Sergio Conceicao is facing mounting pressure to yield positive results as the team languishes in ninth position on the log and this is unfamiliar territory for the side.

Ironically, Fabregas has caught the attention of the Milan board, with them eager to bring on the young coach should things not improve under the Portuguese tactician.

Coming off the back of a 3-2 win against Lecce, Conceicao heaped praise on his side for showing character in the match and will hope they will replicate the performance against Como.

"It seemed difficult to turn it around, then character came out. I put on offensive players and in the end it went well. I have to compliment the team for how they worked during the week with the right attitude that I really liked,” he said.
