The 2019 Italian Open is set to be played at Foro Italico in Rome between 12-19 May.
It is one of the biggest red clay tennis competitions in the world after the French Open (Grand Slam tournament).
This will be the 76th edition of the Italian Open and it is part of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the 2019 ATP World Tour and a Premier 5 event on the 2019 WTA Tour.
Ukrainian tennis star and world number six Elina Svitolina is the defending champion having won the last two women's singles tournaments.
Four-time winner Serena Williams of the USA is set to make her return to competitive tennis at this year's Italian Open.
Top-ranked players Naomi Osaka (Japan) and Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic) are both expected to participate in this year's tournament.
World number three Simona Halep, who was beaten in the last two finals, will be hoping to win her maiden title.
In the women's doubles, Ashleigh Barty (Australia) and Demi Schuurs (Holland) will be looking to defend their doubles title.
