2024/25 English Premier League
Matchday 11
Manchester United v Leicester City
Old Trafford
Manchester, England
Sunday, 10 November 2024
Kick-off is at 16h00
Manchester United will be targeting more of the same when they host Leicester at Old Trafford in the
Premier League on Sunday, November 10.
The Red Devils thrashed the Foxes 5-2 in the EFL Cup on October 30 as Ruud van Nistelrooy made a winning start to his tenure as interim manager.
Ruben Amorim was appointed as Erik ten Hag's permanent successor on November 1, but the Sporting CP head coach will only step into his new role on November 11.
Van Nistelrooy's first league match at the helm saw United claim a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at home on November 3 and they've only collected five points from their last five outings.
Van Nistelrooy's side find themselves 13 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool in 13th place and are just two clear of the Foxes, who clinched a dramatic 1-1 draw at Ipswich on November 2.
The 2023-24 Championship winners are now winless in their last two matches after recording back-to-back wins over Bournemouth (1-0) and Southampton (3-2) at the start of November.
Steve Cooper's side have a five-point cushion to the relegation zone in 15th spot, having seen all but Everton (16th) pick up at least one point on matchday 10.
The hosts continue to be without Leny Yoro (ankle), Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw (both calf) and Kobbie Mainoo (thigh), but Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia (knee), Mason Mount and Antony could come back into contention for the visit of Leicester.
Jakub Stolarczyk (ankle) is the only confirmed absentee for the visitors, with Patson Daka (ankle) and Hamza Choudhury (shoulder) possibly set to return to the fold.
Van Nistelrooy is keen to build on the performances against the Foxes and the Blues, while stressing the importance of giving Amorim a solid platform to start on.
"Against Leicester we finished our chances, we had some luck. Sometimes you need some luck, but it's taking the chances, keeping up the spirit and the fight in the team to not give so much away, like today, and then we're going to start winning games," the Dutchman said.
"We are behind the new manager and everybody at the club is first of all focusing of course on the two games that are coming [PAOK and Leicester].
"They are very important and we have to continue on the Leicester performance and the Chelsea performance. After that, we get behind him and work hard to make Manchester United better every day."

Cooper admitted to mixed emotions after seeing Jordan Ayew score a 94th-minute equaliser in the game that he thought his team should have won at Portman Road.
"There's the result and the performance. It's the performance that most of the time gets you the result. I think that we came here for the win. Not in an arrogant way - because we have to have that mentality - we expected to win if we got our performance levels right," he said.
"If a draw is what it is, there's a slight positive in there, but we wanted to win the game. When we were good, we were superior, and we knew that we would be a better level.
"We started really strong, finished really strong, but bits in between were a little bit too up and down for my liking, so it's mixed feelings but we keep ticking over and we move on now."
