Zesco United have extended their lead at the top of the
MTN Super League table, now five points clear of second-placed Green Buffaloes. This comes after their 1-2 victory over Nchanga Rangers in a Week 5 fixture at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola over the weekend.
Despite the 2024/2025 season starting slightly later for them due to their involvement in CAF competitions, they have managed to win four out of five games and draw one, earning them 13 points and putting them in a strong position.
Zega Mambo went into this game with an undefeated record, and Nchanga Rangers appeared poised to hand them their first defeat of the season. However, Zega Mambo said, ‘’Not today!’’ Amin Hiver’s brace was enough for Zesco to remain top of the table.
Green Buffaloes are second on the table with eight points having drawn two, won two and lost one in the last five games. Over the weekend they played against Atletico Lusaka whom they drew with 0-0.
In Ndola, Forest Rangers who were determined to win against FC MUZA ended up recording a two all draw. Rangers are 5th on the log and MUZA 16th in the relegation zone.
Sitting comfortably in 9th place, Green Eagles were hoping for a win to spread their wings, but instead, they settled for a frustrating 1-1 draw against 15th-placed NAPSA Stars. Jimmy Mukeya’s goal was a breath of fresh air, but Ernest Mbewe quickly turned it into a gust of disappointment. Green Eagles remain stuck in the middle.
A 1-1 draw recorded in the match against Zanaco power Dynamos at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka home of Zanaco. It was a mouth-watering fixture as both teams created main chances in the early minutes of the game. The bankers found the back of the net in the 43rd minute through Araina Lambert.
The thrilling action continued into the second half, with both teams creating chances. In the 88th minute, Dominic Chanda scored the equalizer for Dynamos.
